Create a Bucket List: Awaken Your Dreams

bucket list
Why should I create a bucket list?

Creating a bucket list allows you to sit down and truly take time to dream.  In a normal day, you have all kinds of thoughts flowing through your mind and before you know it you have moved onto a new thought.  When you sit down with paper and a pen and get away from all the distractions, it allows your mind to be still and focus on your dreams.

The idea of a bucket list sounds good, but I don’t know where to start…

Start by getting a piece of paper and pen and going to a place with no distractions.  Brainstorm about your life in general.  Ask yourself:  What do I truly desire in life?  What have I always wanted to accomplish, but never believed in myself enough to do it?  If money were no object, what would I do?

Here are 5 categories to help you in your brainstorming:

Career – Travel – Relationships – Health – Education.

Now that you have categories set up, ask yourself some more questions based on those categories:

Still stuck and can’t seem to get those dreams down on paper?

Do not fret!  An awesome idea to get the mind stirring is to take an hour or so and look online at other peoples’ bucket lists.  There are lists EVERYWHERE and many ideas that can assist you in making your five categories.

Dare to think outside the box a bit.  Although it’s good to have attainable goals, it’s also good to list items that allow you to think outside of your comfort zone.

You are MORE than capable of achieving anything you want to.  Believe in yourself.

Your bucket list is not something that needs to be finished in one day.  That is part of the fun in the whole thing: You are ALWAYS changing, having new experiences, and you will constantly be adding new ideas.  Your priorities will change and you will take off items and replace them with others.

There are no rules.  Don’t complicate the process or give yourself one hundred reasons why you don’t have time to write a bucket list.

  • Write your bucket list down and carry it with you.
  •  Read it multiple times through the week.
  • Start setting little goals and eventually you will work up to some of the bigger ones
  • IF YOU CAN IMAGINE IT, YOU CAN DO IT!

Great article. Everyone should have both a long-term bucket list and an annual “to do” list that helps them break the bigger theme of the bucket list into smaller, manageable chunks that will actually get accomplished rather than “done someday”.
